Admin Bootloader

version 1.1

Admin bootloader is a simple JavaScript file that allows you to add new features to the standard Pulse 4 editor without having to completely rewrite the CMS. It works by bootloading a small JavaScript file into the editor page which then adds new features to the user interface.

What features can it add?

The script was initially created to add visible notes for the admin user to remind them how to add certain Pulse tags (short codes) or blog posts to the site.

Later it was extended to add a simple character counter to the page title field and warn the user is the title was either missing or too long.

By default the script allows page titles between 1 and 55 characters long. As long as the title length falls within these bounds the character count number will display in green. If the title is too long or empty the number will display in red and the save button will be disabled.

Feel free to add your own tools to the bootloader.js file and remove the ones you don't need.

Installing the script

Download the bootloader.js JavaScript file and FTP it into your Pulse install at admin > inc.
In this directory you'll find the standard open.php file from the Pulse install. Open this file for editing and add the following code at the top of the document;

<script src="inc/bootload.js"></script>
